Ant-Man and the Wasp, American movie (2018)

Marvel’s latest release, Ant-man and the Wasp, came shortly on the heels of Avengers:Infinity Wars, which was much darker and over-the-top depressing, leaving fans clamoring for a do-over in the fourth planned installment to the series. Raistlin0903 shared his review on his website of the “comic relief” addition to the Marvel Universe.

One of my favorite parts of going to a movie theatre, besides eating snacks, is the previews. It’s always exciting to see new and interesting trailers for movies that will be coming out later in the year. However these days, trailers have changed a lot from what they were years ago. While the main purpose of one is of course getting you excited for an upcoming film, nowadays I think that trailers quite often just give away too much. Sometimes whole plotpoints are revealed, and at times this certainly make me regret looking at one in the first place. Now I know what you are going to say: Why watch them then? I think that is a very good question. A good trailer for me, is one that shows you scenes to give you enough of a tease to look forward to a film, while at the same time holding…

The Incredibles 2 – Review

My husband and I managed to see this over the weekend, no kids in tow! It’s amazing to think it’s been fourteen years since the original was released. What’s even more amazing is how an animated feature film that’s family-friendly can be so relevant to today’s world. Thanks to Matt Watson for sharing this post.

Matt W Watson - Future Failed Writer

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Pixar are about the only studio that can get me to the cinema to see a super hero franchise. When the sequel was first announced, I thought that they were leaving it a little too late in the superhero zeitgeist, but it turns out that the fad never ends. With the core Avengers series not wrapping up until next year, and several franchises in various phases of reboots and reimagines, it appears as though Pixar were right on the money.

Their were children in the theatre, which was weird. I assumed that this franchise was for people who watched the original fourteen years ago, and had spent the time in between not doing much of anything. Except waiting.

It’s only just occurred to me that some of us could’ve had kids of our own in that time. I’m glad I’m not one of them. 80% of the…

Books for all ages!

When we read a book it is like traveling around the world, or to outer space, or to a land that only exists in a writer’s mind, or into the mind of a killer, or into the animal kingdom, or on a visit to an exotic location, or into the world of faeries or science fiction.

We can go wherever we choose to go! All we need to do is pick up a book about whatever interests us. There are millions of books available online, in book stores or libraries to choose from. We can escape for as long as we choose to read.

Did you know that reading…

A Plea for Help from Dani at Touch my Spine Book Reviews

I first read this post thanks to a repost from another blogger, and simply had to share it on my own site. It may be hard for many of us to imagine that there are people in dire need in our own backyards, but we are truly surrounded by those less fortunate souls. I’m sure Dani will be grateful for all the prayers and donations we can offer her and her loved ones in this time of need.

Touch My Spine Book Reviews

I know many have wondered where in the hell I have been… Well yes I have battled grief and yes I have had issues going online but I haven’t shared it all.
I have went through way more than grief, I have been fighting for my ability to take care of my children and to get the medical treatment for my family. Long story short, we have lost most of our income and medical benefits.

We went weeks without electricity, had to cut back like barely nothing on food for kids to have it and we have went without medical supplies and medications.

I have been battling seizures without my medicine and haven’t been able to caretaker my son’s father who has a brain injury and can’t remember 20 mins ago or long term. My child’s mother has been battling renal failure with no way to go to the doctor…

The 5 Biggest Questions Fans Still Have For ‘Avengers: Infinity War

My family and I have long been fans of science fiction and action/adventure movies, including the wildly popular and successful Marvel series that includes The Avengers, Spiderman, Black Panther, and Guardians of the Galaxy.  The next addition to this series, Avengers: Infinity Wars,  is coming in ten short days, so I decided to share this post by Vincent Bivetto on Coed.com  that highlights the questions every rapid follower of this series is asking themselves right now.

Chadwick Boseman Tells You Everything You Need To Know About Why “Black Panther” Is A Must-See

Okay, I feel so far behind.  My husband and I only got the chance to see Black Panther this past weekend.  We are big fans of the Marvel Movies, and this was definitely just as good as any have been to date.  The cast was simply stellar, and the story added new dimensions to the universe, with a mostly African-American cast full of strong, smart, independent men and women who represent the best the superhero genre has to offer.  Check out this post from Chadwick Boseman on magicbaltimore.com

It comes as no surprise, but Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther is going to be one of the biggest Marvel films. It’s already setting records in advance sales for Fandango; it was the top seller among Mar…

The Power of Inspiring Someone Else

A couple of weeks ago, Christy Birmingham honored me with a mention on her blog When Women Inspire in a post about inspiring others.  Like Christy, I’ve had many influences in my life, many good, some not-so-good, that have fueled my passion for writing. I’m simply going to echo her challenge here, that we each take the time to share with those who’ve so positively inspired us, exactly how much their words and actions mean to us.

When Women Inspire

I love the concept of one person inspiring another. D’uh, you say, that’s the name of your blog Christy. But seriously, when you think about it, it’s all pretty cool. It shows the positive impact we can have on one another.

The power of inspiring others My dad’s pretty awesome. Photo ©2018 Christy B.

But sometimes we don’t even know we’re doing it. I remember years ago, being in a bad mental space and thinking “No one would even care if I weren’t here.”

My dad set me straight on that one! And so did other people. The reality is that you are likely touching other hearts without even realizing it. So let’s make that affect on others full of good energy, rather than bad.

Recently author and blogger Amy Caudill humbled me with her review of my book Versions of the Self on Goodreads. That review had me beaming, but you know what…

Resident Evil:Apocalypse, American movie (2004)

I may not be a gamer like Raistlin0903, who wrote this post, but I’m a big fan of female action heroes. In my opinion Milla Jovovich is one of the best out there today, not only for her long-running Resident Evil series, but starring roles in other films such as The Fifth Element and Ultraviolet. Milla will be next seen in her upcoming role as the lead villian in the Hellboy reboot. Whatever role she takes, this lady is known for using brains, martial arts moves, and bullets to demolish her opponents where they stand. Check her out at a theatre or RedBox near you.

Raistlin0903

There was a time when I was a very obsessive player of computergames. Just as with movies, I had a particular fondness for games that were set in the horrorgenre. It will probably not be a very big surprise that the infamous Resident Evil series was my favorite. For those that are not familiar with it, shame on you! But of course being the nice guy that I am, I will tell you a little bit of background on it. Resident Evil tells the story of the evil Umbrella corporation, that unknown to the public at large, secretly produces bio weapons. One of their biggest creations was the socalled T-virus, that turns normal people into terrible flesh eating zombies. And of course…at one point something goes terribly wrong, and the virus gets unleashed in the fictional town of Raccoon City. The third game in the series introduced a foe that…

Anticipated 2018 Book to Screen Adaptations | Blogmas Day 3

Happy 2018! Since I’m still entertaining family this week, I just wanted to take a moment to share a post I found by Becky on coffeecocktailandbooks.com showcasing some of the most anticipated book- to- TV-or big screen adaptions coming our way. I’m looking forward to some of these myself, especially The Alienist, which comes out this month, and features a grown-up Dakota Fanning in a period mystery series that seems to be a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Cathy Reichs’ Bones. Enjoy!

Coffee Cocktails & Books 📖

Hey friends,

Sorry, today’s post is coming out so late! I had a super slow start to my day and everything was super behind schedule.

As you guys know, I LOVE talking about adaptations. As someone who loves movies, books, theories, and doing book to screen comparisons, I am always on the lookout for promising (or awful) looking adaptations. I do have a best and worst adaptations list coming soon, but today we’re going to look at 5 upcoming book to screen adaptations I’m really looking forward to!

The Alienist

Book Summary:

The year is 1896. The city is New York. Newspaper reporter John Schuyler Moore is summoned by his friend Dr. Laszlo Kreizler—a psychologist, or “alienist”—to view the horribly mutilated body of an adolescent boy abandoned on the unfinished Williamsburg Bridge. From there the two embark on a revolutionary effort in criminology: creating a psychological profile of the perpetrator…
